THE MONSTERS TODAY is the new comedy by director Enrico Oldoini.
This film can be considered a third chapter in respect to the previous pictures: the 1963 20-episode “I mostri” (Opiate '67) directed by Dino Risi and the 1977 14-episode "I nuovi mostri" (The New Monsters) directed by Dino Risi, Mario Monicelli and Ettore Scola.
In this film, as in the previous two, the many vices, weaknesses and fears in contemporary Italy are parodied in 16 different episodes; the years pass, the decades pass, but the defects with which Italy is afflicted are always the same. Here they are illustrated in episodes that are comical, bitter, grotesque, striking: cynicism, greed, indifference, false conformism, and despicable behaviour, conceit and so on...
Starring Diego Abatantuono, Sabrina Ferilli, Giorgio Panariello, Claudio Bisio, Angela Finocchiaro, and Carlo Buccirosso.
