ENRICO RAVA
Italian jazz player of international fame, trumpet player, flügelhorn player and composer. He was born in Trieste the 20th of August 1939. At first he studied piano then he devoted himself to the trumpet. In the Sixties he played with Gato Barbieri, Giorgio Gaslini, Don Cherry, Mal Waldron and Steve Lacy with whom he also played in London and Argentina. In the Seventies he moved to United States where he collaborated with Roswell Rudd, Bill Dixon and with the “Jazz Composers Orchestra Association” of Carla Bley and Mike Mantler. He also participated to international music festivals and performed with his own groups in the United States, in South America and in Italy. He has composed several soundtracks and he writes arrangements and compositions for big band. He has been designated many times as musician of the year by the Top Jazz survey of the "Music Jazz" magazine.
